Coto de Caza

Coto de Caza, meaning "hunt preserve" in Spanish, is an upscale, master planned, private community in Southern Orange County. Coto, as the locals call it, has a population of almost 15,000 based on 2010 census data and 4000 acres of land. Over half of the area has been set aside for open spaces, an equestrian center, green belts, pedestrian trails, two community swimming pools, two club houses, two golf courses and nine tennis courts. It is the oldest and most expensive planned development in Orange County. Within the community one will find the Coto de Caza Guest Lodge and the General Store. Adjacent to and surrounding the gate-guarded community is the Thomas F. Riley Wilderness Park, an ecological preserve, consisting of nearly 500 acres. The park is the home breeding ground to mountain lions as well as the habit for many other animals, reptiles and birds.
